My goal is to explore visual mediums and take you along for the ride. I am currently focusing on the program Blender, which is a 3d animation software. I use it because it is free, but also powerful. My hope is to create visuals that resonate with others, but if not at least resonate with me.
I started this journey years ago with many false starts. There never seemed to be enough time to devote to learning new skills and the barrier to entry was always too high to make any meaningful progress. When covid-19 hit and the lockdown started I suddenly had time on my hands, and lots of it. I spent a whole week (6 hours a day) learning Blender and experimenting. Once I had a basic foundation of understanding I was able to learn more an hour at a time. As a consequence, even though life has gotten busier again, I am able to continue learning on honing my skills in the in-between times now.
As I continue to progress I want to share my growth with anyone who is interested. I like to share everything (even the bad stuff) so that there is context for my progress. I am not always fast, but my goal is only progress. I want people to see the growth process unvarnished and in real time. If you follow me you will see every small incremental step without me dressing things up to look better than they are. I can’t promise to be good, but I can promise to keep trying.
My philosophy is to force myself to put stuff out, even if it is not perfect. I would rather make back art that can improve, than perfect are that is never done. I am beating the perfectionist out of me. If I see mistakes after the fact I will not fix them, and I will acknowledge them. The only fixes I will make will be improving my future projects, and not retroactive changing stuff in the past (I am looking at you George Lucas).
